As you know, pink elephants increase the amount of good in the world! So today we will crochet just such positive animal.
In this case we use the Japanese pattern and my small addition.
Pattern for Pink Elephant
Materials: yarn KARTOPU GONCA (100% acrylic, 100 grams, 300 m) in pink and cream, 2.1 mm crotchet hook, polyester fiberfill stuffing.
Let’s start with the main part of the elephant, dome-like body. The other parts will begin from the dome’s stitches.
Place the dome as shown below in the diagram and determine the front. Then define a place for trunk. The trunk is composed of two parts, one is the trunk itself, and the second one is the connection with the body.
Count the required number of stitches on the dome and begin to crochet the connection.
Now we crochet legs. Each leg is formed from stitches of the dome and chains, which are closed into a circle. The front legs (B and C) also use stitches of the trunk-dome connection.
Note that the dome, legs and trunk – is one big part. It’s crocheted in several stages and it is important not to make a mistake in their sequence. When legs are ready, you can crochet the trunk. Begin from the hole that is formed between legs B, C and the dome.
After that only the bottom hole should remain. Through that hole you’ll stuff the elephant and then crochet the belly by the pattern, and thus close the hole.
Ears and tail are separate parts and sewed as usual. With a sewing thread we sew on eyes.
In the original pattern tusks are made of plastic, but I decided to crochet them too. I like when all of the toy is soft.
Pattern of Tusk
